Also, don't want to sound rude, but if you are asking that question, it does not sound like you really fully understand how partitions works. On that case, my advice would be read a whole material about it, test on a Dev box, and then ... if you have questions, you can post those here and people will help you. Who knows... maybe then you will realize that partition is not for you or it will not "solve" any issues you may already have.

If I was your manager and you're about to partition TB of GB of data and you are not sure of how it works before implement, I would not feel comfortable you doing it.

Partition is actually a tricky and complex topic.
