Im curious what other people around the world / companies large and small use for naming conventions for Service accounts. The reason why I'm asking is I'm trying to introduce/change our current naming standard used for Window based systems. but my experience is only limited to the companies I've worked and since I'm not in system architecture, security, or server administration that is usually dictated by those groups in the places I've worked. Recently @ my current company we've been give some latitude to contribute and make suggestions for improvement.
This would be for the Windows: (For unix/linux/mainframe/etc.. i'm excluding)
Windows App servers, Windows File services, etc.
More specifically SQL Server service accounts
Questions.
1. What size is your company
2. What is your method for naming convention for
Windows Service accounts.
e,g.
SQL Server Service Accounts
Reporting Services Accounts
Production/Test/Dev/etc
thanks for your time!
Any comments and suggestions are welcome to learn what others think about.
