The datatype of the column would, of course, have to be XML.

Tied to that, you would create an XML SCHEMA COLLECTION , using the values of all attributes expected, including whether they are required fields (ie NULL/ NOT NULL).

this will then be implemented as Attribute_XML XML (MySchema)
