Where to find debugging symbols for SQL2008R2 SP2

  • Hello all,

I have a problem with one of the SQL Server installations running SQL2008R2 SP2. Users can't login an a memory dump is generated. I now want to debug this memory dump, but I need the symbols file for sqlservr.exe. I tried to get the file using the steps in this blog post http://mssqlwiki.com/2010/06/15/how-to-analyze-deadlocked-schedulers-dumps/

I also followed the instructions from Paul Randal http://www.sqlskills.com/blogs/paul/how-to-download-a-sqlservr-pdb-symbol-file/. But I keep receiving this error:

SYMCHK: sqlservr.exe FAILED – sqlservr.pdb mismatched or not found

    SYMCHK: FAILED files = 1

    SYMCHK: PASSED + IGNORED files = 0

Does anyone one what I am missing here, and how to get hold of the pdb file.

    Thanks in advance

    Arthur

  • I seem to recall they were never released. I know there was at least one version where the symbols weren't released, think it was R2.
