Hi,
I have a problem with an alias for sql server named instance.
I read a lot about that, but can't find any solution that works.
- I've two instances on same server. The first one is the default, the second one is named Recette_v2
I try to make an alias for this second instance (the application that must aceed to db on named instance can't call the classic name SERVER\INSTANCE_NAME).
I've a DNS registry with alias name for my serveur name and can connect to sql instance with management studio with it.
But it don't works with SQL alias added in configuration manager (Special tpc port with name of alias in DNS).
Have anyone a solution ?

Have you seen this, http://blogs.msdn.com/b/dbrowne/archive/2012/05/21/how-to-add-a-hostname-alias-for-a-sql-server-instance.aspx? It looks like it shows how to do exactly what you need to do.
