It is a real shame that Microsoft has basically dropped Access as a valid development platform.

I really have to disagree with this. Access continues to be a very viable development platform. While its true that MS is looking to enable Access as a WEB development platform and that is there focus, nothing has been dropped that invalidates it as a development platform.

On the other hand, I do have to agree that it is not easy for a team to collaborate on developing in Access. its still possible, but various members of a team need to be assigned very specific tasks.

On the other hand, almost every Access app I've developed has been, in a certain light, a team product. I say that because, I constantly use functions, techniques and ideas I've picked up from the WEB and other colleagues. The amount of support for Access outside of Microsoft is amazing. Its also why Access MVPs are one of the largest MVP groups.
