Blog, linkedIn, Facebook, user groups, networking etc etc.

Reminds me of a manager who was sceptical of people with too much training and seeking qualifications. Their thinking was that how much real work are they going to be doing.

I would rather see a sparse collection of useful blog posts rather than a mass of indistinguishable drivel. I guess that reflects the sort of person I like working with.

I find some of the social media sites useful but I would always advise a clean split between your personal and professional use of sites. People may see your personal public entries but as long as they are reasonable (i.e. wouldn't bring a company into disrepute) then they are likely to be ignored.

You are right that your provided "I know that it isn't a perfect solution" is not perfect. The human judges (interviewers) should be polished and skilled enough that they make "guessing/perception game" much more near to actual reality. To look for article and blogs which are too out of scope of any rational "guessing" is much less productive and much time consuming.

Hmmm. I don't disagree with plagarism in this instance. I know... I know... It is lazy and dishonest. I am an accountant by trade so there really isn't a reason for me to learn any of this except for the fact that i woud rather put some work on the front end and never have to touch it again.

The only reason I know VBA, SQL, or UNIDATA is because I am inherently lazy and I would rather make the system do the work for me. Build it once and just tweak it every now and then... That is efficiency.

If my manager or a client asks me how long a specific project will take, I am dishonest. I say two weeks when I know it will take me a couple of hours. To me, it isn't dishonesty, it is managing expectations.

If you set up a blog and copy paste information on your blog, you forever have a "cheat sheet" to reference. In my opinion, it is good documentation.

How many times have you attended EXPENSIVE training, and somehow, everyone that attended lost their materials?

If you set up a blog and copy paste information on your blog, you forever have a "cheat sheet" to reference. In my opinion, it is good documentation.
How many times have you attended EXPENSIVE training, and somehow, everyone that attended lost their materials?

If you republish this on a blog, that's plagiarism. If you want to save copies of information, you need to do so privately. If you expose it on the Internet, then this isn't a cheat sheet, it's improperly republishing someone else's work.
