DBA, Data Scientist, Database Engineer. What's the difference?

  • I'm more interested in your general opinion. I'm not aware of any consensus on this subject but maybe I'm wrong?

  • DBE is usually something in between (or a combo of) DBA and DBD (which could be DB Developer or Designer).

I never heard about Data Scientist, but I knew some Data Analysts. They are usually business analysts with some degree of knowledge of SQL and/or DMX/MDX.

  • I prefer Data Janitor myself. More appropriate most of the time.

I like the way you think. We have a 'Data Developer' who's title really out to be Darth Data "The Corrupter".
