We are migrating the databases from SQL2K to 2K8, so obviously the applications will be repointed to the new box.
However there may be processes on other SQL servers that reference the old box, so the answer seems to be to point that Hosts file to the new server, and do a search through the stored procs/scheduled jobs/views etc on the other servers for references.
Would appreciate any advice, ie if that is overkill, or actually there's anything we're missing out, or should do differently.
