SQL Server 2014 Developer Edition - availability for download ?

    Does anyone know when SQL Server 2014 Developer Edition will be availability for download ?

    I thought SQL Server 2014 was being released today ?

    I checked MSDN this morning and it isn't there yet. I suspect it will appear over the next couple of days.

    Nothing was available until 9AM West Coast time. I understand most of it's online now. I just used Azure to spin up a VM. A lot quicker than downloading if all you're doing is evaluating.

    If they even do an SP. I've heard rumors that's being tossed and you just have to get the latest CU.

    SQL Server 7: I'm not sure, but perhaps 4 service packs in ~7 years.

    SQL Server 2000: 4 service packs in ~5 years

    SQL Server 2005: 4 service packs in ~5 years

    SQL Server 2008: 3 service packs in ~3 years, the last ~3 years ago

    SQL Server 2008 R2: 2 service packs in ~2 years, the last ~2 years ago

    SQL Server 2012: 1 service pack in less than 1 year, the last ~1.5 years ago

    On a purely linear extrapolation, we should expect 0 service packs for 2014.

    As I prefer a more tested group of patches to a less tested group of patches, this is extremely worrisome - how many CU's (and of what severity) do we wait, and how many CU's back do we start (trying to avoid uncaught bugs in the most current CU)? This is a real management pain.

    The retail version is still unavailable for those that do not have an MSDN license. Microsoft's store says coming soon still...even for the download version.

    Developer Edition is available on the US Microsoft Store, however trying to pay with a UK Credit Card doesn't work, which is frustrating as it is a download.;-)
