I am being tasked with building two datamarts in SQL2012/SSIS in the next few months. The first is an Enterprise DW for which we are building a full framework from scratch and a very complicated (as in abstracted) data store based along the lines of IBM and Terradata models. The other needs to be less automated and is to support Hyperion Planning.
Data will be coming from several sources and in some cases the data quality is very poor which makes referential integrity and the building of check constraints and FKs difficult in 3NF and presents lots of issues with cleansing the data for the dimensions and facts.
I came across Data Vault methodology and it looks like it solves a lot of problems for me - I was just wondering if anyone has built a DW or ODS using this methodology and what issues it presents.
