SQL Small Business upgrade to BI or Enterprise

  • Good afternoon.

I am trying to find a single source that can give me an overview of what it takes to upgrade from SQL Server Small Business to either SQL BI or SQL Enterprise. I would prefer to see a cost analysis on both as well as be abe to make an informed decision on which product would best suit our company.

I am the Senior Data Analyst for a small comapany that is looking to the future for SSRS on SharePoint as well as Power Pivot to grow and expand our reporting capabilities. I statred asking questions of our IT department over 6 months ago and our CEO has given approval to do whatever it takes to make it happen. But all I am getting is a run around.....we need this harware, we need this software, licensing is going to be $35,000, and on and on and on.....

I just want our company to move to the next level (away from 100 differnet spreadsheets) and I am hoping that someone on this forum can guide me to some resources that will help me understand if this is so difficult and expensive or if I am just getting a run around.

    Thanks

    Robert

  • Isn't there someone from your local Microsoft quarters that can help you out with this?

Take a look at this MSDN page:

Features Supported by the Editions of SQL Server 2012

Most features of SSRS are already available in Standard edition.

Unless you need Power View in SharePoint of course...

But Power View is also available locally in Excel 2013.

Which version of Excel are you using?

Need an answer? No, you need a question
