if your databases are not currently being backed up you need to get that set up immediately so go the easy route and use maintenance plans. You could look at bespoke scripts later, such as Olla Hallengrens.
some people get all sniffy about maintenance plans but they work just fine,especially for backups and integrity checks. Reindexing can be improved upon with scripts that only rebuild those indexes that actually require it
Integrity check ALL your databases on a regular basis.
Use separate plans for system and user databases.
