Mirroring Standard and Enterprise

    I have a pair of 2005 Standard Edition servers setup with mirroring. I want to upgrade to Enterprise so I can create and rebuild indexes online. Is it possible to run a mirrored configuration with one server Standard and the other Enterprise? I cannot deal with any downtime beyond the failover.

    If anyone has done this, please let me known the steps you followed.

    not sure about 2005 but in 2008 and above you can upgrade the servers without downtime.

    first upgrade the mirror server

    then fail-over to to mirror server

    then upgrade initial primary server
