I would REALLY like some fast help with this problem!

I would really like some help with this annoying longlasting problem

So i have built my own computer, and i have another one (not built by me, it's built by Hewlett-Packard).

I use Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit, and the problem is that SQL Server 2000 installs perfectly on this new made computer but not the service pack for it (sp4).

The installation keeps on going until it comes to this and stops, almost forever "Setup is initializing the server for the upgrade process".

When i wait long enough then a error pops up (didn't pay attention to it and clicked Ok, and then another one and i pressed ok. Then the setup just closes itself and doesn't allow me to retry the installation because this time it stops at validating password...

Please help me if you maybe know a solution for this. I'll give you my skype and please install TeamViewer so you can control my computer and change everything that must be changed in order for the installation to proceed.

  • SQL Server 2000 is no longer supported. Your best option is to upgrade to the latest version.

Note that to get there you will need to upgrade to 2008 first.

  • That sounds sad because i worked so hard with my Dekaron server on the other computer and now i get to this, isn't there a way for me to get some help anyways? I'm sure someone knows how to fix this problem.

    #Edit: Dekaron is a game

and i get this error on log:

    09:24:48 C:\Users\Hamed\AppData\Local\Temp\SqlSetup\Bin\scm.exe -Silent 1 -Action 1 -Service MSSQLSERVER -StartupOptions \-T4022

  • SQL 2000 isn't supported any longer, get SQL 2012 and use that.

  • Have you tried creating a virtual Server 2000/2003 environment on your Windows 7 box that you could install SQL 2000 SP4 on? Just a suggestion.

It's not us that's not supporting SQL 2000 (can you really call a forum with volunteers posting whatever they want 'support'?) It's Microsoft. No more patches, no more service packs and no support from MS customer support.

  • Why don't you change the tone of the question from 'how do I get SQL 2000 to install' to "how do I get my game to work on SQL 2008"

You can start by posting the exact error that you get when you try and run it against SQL 2008.

Would be the better approach. With SQL 2000 sooner or later you're screwed. Try to upgrade the database asap.

  • Gila monster sorry, i was a little bit tired taht day so i just said what i didn't think of before

Sean Lange What do you mean? Can i make the 2008 to 2000?

nick.mcdermaid It's because i have game query errors, and that's something only a guy that knows this shit about dekaron databases

i can't upgrade the database, i have no clue of this, i only follow tutorials that ain't telling me anything that's that very "healthy". I mean i learn what i do, but i haven't learned anything about upgrading dekaron files.

I know i'm typing ugly but i'm REALLY tired right now so sorry, ask me if you don't understand what i wrote.
