    I've just inherited some MySQL databases with some problems. Does anyone have any favorite forums ?

    I've never needed them, but you could always go to http://forums.mysql.com/ or http://stackoverflow.com/

    mysql is now owned by oracle.

    stackoverflow tends to find my questions out of bounds.

    yes. Their commitment and direction is contrary to an open source product. Some of the people coming to the forums of the most value will eventually leave when they realise they are being used by Oracle.

    I've been on SSC for many years. The discussion of SQL Server is excellent, the understanding of those same people of open source is very limited.

    MySQL has been part of Oracle for several years now. Companies aren't using people in forums, people are using the company to have a space to help each other (it's not free and it's not easy to do it). If people were to leave the forums just because Sun bought them and Oracle bought Sun, they would have gone long ago.

    A large part of the development is being done by MariaDB

    Are you a long time follower of the issue?
