Adding 2nd Node to SQL 2008 Enterprise Failover Clustering

  • Hello,

I followed this link for installation:

    http://www.mssqltips.com/sqlservertip/1721/install-sql-server-2008-on-a-windows-server-2008-cluster-part-4/

Everything was alright for the 1st. Node.

Then, I try to add 2nd node, in the 7th step of above link,

the "SQL Server Instance Name" combo-box is empty.

I can't select nothing from there.

    Please any advice.

    Regards.

  • Hello,

Are you able to see the SQL services on Node A.

  • Yes, it is running in node A.

I can open SQL Server Management Studio & connect to this instance (MSSQLSERVERVAS).

    In Failover Cluster Manager:

    - MSDTC is online, running

    - SQL Server is online, running

    To add 2nd node:

Do I need to run SQL Setup from the node-B or node-A?

    Thanks

  • I run the "Add new node" from Node-B, but in the end of SQL Server Setup, I got this error:

"The installed language for the SQL_Engine_Core_Inst feature is inconsistent between the nodes of the cluster. To cluster an instance, the language of the instance on each node must be the same."

both nodes have the same windows.

I used the same SQL Server Setup.

The language of the instance on each node is the same(I didn't change nothing here, default values)

Any advice how to fix this Language issue.

    Thanks in advance.

  • Did you run SQL Server setup on second node with the option add node to the failover cluster and then specify the cluster instance during the setup?

"More Green More Oxygen !! Plant a tree today"

  • Have you checked if your cluster services are running or not? worth checking that...
