Unable to Connect Reporting Services (2008R2) in SSMS

  • Dear All,

I am facing some problem in connecting the Reporting Services (2008R2).

it is throwing the following error.

    TITLE: Connect to Server

    ------------------------------

    Cannot connect to <<SERVER>>.

    ------------------------------

    ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

Unable to connect to the server at <<SERVER>>. The specified URL might not be valid or there might be a problem with the report server version or configuration. Specify a different URL, or contact your server administrator to verify that the report server runs SQL Server 2008 or later.

Additionally, if you are trying to connect to a SharePoint-integrated report server, verify that SharePoint is installed on the server and that the report server uses SharePoint integrated mode.

    (Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.UI.RSClient)

    ----------------

    my Sys configarations

    OS : Windows7 64 bit

    SQL: SQL2008R2.

I have cross checked the following things.

    1. In Report Server Configuration Tool, in Database tab, i created the new database under native mode sill NO LUCK,

    2. I have installed a fresh copy of Reporting Services with named instance still NO LUCK

    3. In the ReportServer DB. under ConfigurationInfo table it is (SharePointIntegrated is False).

Please help me in this regard how to rectify this. Do i need to uninstall and reinstall entire SQL2008R2 or it is just a configuration change?

    Thanks in Advance..

    -Santosh.

  • Are you able to get into reporting services configuration manager?

  • Hi Jason,

    Thank you for your reply,,

Yes i am able to open the Reporting Services Configuration Manager..

I am not able to browse the ReportServer and Report Manager also.. It is showing HTTP 500 error when i try to browse in IE.

    Thanks,

    Santosh.

  • In Configuration manager, try changing the port from 80 to 8080 for the Report Manager and Report Server sites. This generally works for me.

  • OS: Windows 7 64 bit

  • The UAC (user account control) is probably interfering then. Try disabling UAC in control panel and see if that helps.
