Apologies if I am in the wrong part of the forum, I'm new, and newbies seemed a good place to start.
We write a lot of quick one off AS400 queries (or green screen as everybody around here calls them) to check table data and the column headings are always the field description rather than the field name. So instead of 'Iprod' for example, which is useful, we get 'Itm Num', which is fine, but some of the descriptions are meaningless (I'm not an admin so can't change these). Is there a way, other than 'Specify Report Column Formatting' which seems to require manual entry every time for new queries, to have queries default to Field names rather than descriptions?
Many thanks in advance

Just to be clear: Are you using an AS400 to connect to a Microsoft SQL Server database? Or are you using some database product native to the AS400?

Apologies again, I am quite possibly in the wrong place, this would be directly on the AS400, so native.

Ah. This is pretty much a Microsoft SQL Server site. Someone might happen along who could help, but it's not a high probability. You're probably better off on an AS400 support site. Unfortunately, since I don't know AS400, I can't recommend one, so you're probably stuck with Bing/Google/whatever and a bit of research, to find one.
