it's easy Not being able to enable AlwaysOn(how to enable the AlwaysOn??) - SQL 2012 Evaluation---WSFC HOTFIX KB 2494036

  • Hi Friends,

We're working on SQL server 2012 AlwaysOn Availability, but we're hitting an issue while trying to enable the AlwaysOn High Availability feature of SQL 2012. but when I get to the AlwaysOn High Availability tab, I see the following information:

The AlwaysOn Availability Groups feature requires the x86(non-WOW) or x64 Enterprise Edition of SQL Server 2012 (or later version) running on Windows Server 2008 (or later version) with WSFC hotfix KB 2494036 installed. This SQL Server edition and/or Windows Server System does not meet one or more of the requirements.

For more information about pre requisites, restriction and recommendations for AlwaysOn Availability Groups, see SQL Books Online.

dis is my Sql server installation information. (i already download WSFC hotfix KB 2494036 and installed but AlwaysOn high Availability still not enabled)

    Microsoft SQL Server 2012 - 11.0.2100.60 (X64) Feb 10 2012 19:39:15 Copyright (c) Microsoft Corporation Enterprise Evaluation Edition (64-bit) on Windows NT 6.1 <X64> (Build 7601: Service Pack 1)

    O/S :windows server 2008r2 x64bit enterprise edition

please help me on this solution

  • If the Availability Group says you don't have the right configuration, then probably you don't have the right configuration. Do you have an outstanding reboot which will finish the install of the KB?

  • I'm going by what the error message says : This SQL Server edition and/or Windows Server System does not meet one or more of the requirements.

This means you've got something wrong. Flat out. I've done multiple configurations of Availability Groups. When this is displayed, I'm not meeting the requirements. Go back through your setup, one step at a time, and reverify everything. Make sure you're on the latest service packs. Reinstall the knowledge base. Validate that the KB you installed was the 64 bit version. You just have to check everything again. If you're off on any one item, you get that message.
