there are many ways you can do this

i often opt to save the Excel file as CSV and then use BULK INSERT

you could use SSIS packages

but by far the easiest way for Ad-Hoc inserts is to make the excel spreadsheet have the same column structure as your table and then cut and paste straight into your table
