Bring Mirror server online.

  • Hi,

i have configured database mirroring high protection mode(no witness server) for 3 databases.

    & synchronization is going fine.

    my doubt is

if principal server fails, how to bring mirror server online manually?

    plz help me.

    Subha

  • Unfortunately, I've never used mirroring.

I will, however, very seriously advise you to schedule monthly, quarterly, or semiannual failover/failback tests, and actually _run the business_ on the failover/secondary system for at least a full day each time.

Not doing the tests means that when it happens for real, no-one will be comfortable with the process (and any kinks will be surprises).

Not running the business (i.e. failover at night, check it yourself, failback before morning) means that when it happens for real... the business may be very unhappy, and you may find out about some _other_ requirements that no-one mentioned/knew about before.

  • Just either right click on the database, go to mirror and you will see the failover button (This button will only be enabled if you are properly mirroring and synchronized). When you click the failover button, there will be a slight delay and you will see that next to your database name (principal, synchronized) is now saying (mirrored, sychronized) and vice-versa.

Do this for all three databases.
